Much like the decade, my college career is slowly coming to a close. That means it is time to reflect on what I have learned as a theatre major. Looking back on everything I have learned in the last four years is both psychologically and emotionally overwhelming. I’ve experienced a lot with this department in the last four years not just as an actor, but also as a costumer, a director, and a human being in general. There is so much that I want to write about, but the fact of the matter is that I simply do not have the time nor space in this paper to put all the thoughts I have in my head about the Hanover College theatre department down coherently. Since this is supposed to be my final thoughts about my acting thesis, I will focus on what I have learned as an actor here specifically. Some of the most important lessons I have learned as an actor here at Hanover took me years to learn, but some I also learned this last semester. All these lessons are linked together in my eyes because they all have to do with me dealing with issues of confidence, adaptability, and leadership. I believe I have faced these challenges head on, and my way by this paper is to conjure you to agree.
