Historical Note: Hanover College was founded in 1827 by John Finley Crowe, a Presbyterian minister, in southern Indiana as a Presbyterian Seminary. The college was the first private college in the state of Indiana. Frank Sheaffer Baker was an English and journalism professor at Hanover College from 1946-1975. He became the college historian after retirement, authoring Glimpses of Hanover's Past and More Glimpses of Hanover's Past.
