A letter from David Monfort to John Finley Crowe over the Board of Trustee's decision to suspend Hanover College's charter and create Madison University. Initially, Monfort remarks on the suddenness of the decision to suspend Hanover's charter as well as that he did not even know that the Board was considering opening Madison University. Monfort talks about the financial matters related to the move. Monfort offers advice to Crowe such as not behaving rashly. Additionally, Monfort advises that Crowe stay the course and to continue operating the college. Monfort suggests that this is a bump in the road and that they can find people to pay for Professor's salaries while things are in flux.
