Historical Note: In early 2018, Hunter Guthrie received permission to combine his Senior Thesis with one of his greatest passions: the University of Louisville's Men's Basketball Program. After conducting weeks of research, Guthrie formulated a detailed timeline of major events and statistics pertinent to the men's basketball program at the University of Louisville, an intentional list of timeline- and identity-based questions, and a similarly-constructed survey. To form the collection, Guthrie conducted interviews with coaches, players, writers, and community members close to the University of Louisville's Basketball Program. Guthrie recorded these interviews both digitally and on-tape, and later used these recordings to complete transcriptions for these interviews. Ultimately, Guthrie coalesced all of these documents into the Oral History Archive included in this collection.

Scope and Content: This collection serves as an Oral History Archive that catalogs the experiences of individuals close to the University of Louisville's Men's Basketball Program. This collection features a comprehensive bibliography, a detailed timeline of the University's Men's Basketball Program, a list of interview questions, and interviews with coaches (Denny Crum and Scott Davenport), players, media (Jeff Greer and Mike Rutherford), and community members related to the program. These interviews assume the forms of audio files and transcriptions. Moreover, these interviews are supplemented by an amalgamation of responses to a survey constructed with questions similar to those asked during the interviews. The construction of documents, conducting of interviews, and collection of survey responses took place between January and December of 2018. Collectively, these responses refer to topics such as the careers of the interviewees, Rick Pitino, Chris Mack, Tom Jurich, David Padgett, Russ Smith, the 1980, 1986, 2013 National Championships, the 2005 Final Four, the Stripper and FBI Scandals, and the familial experience of the fan base.
