Historical Note: Russell Leavenworth graduated from Hanover College in 1947. He was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, was involved in Theatre and served as editor of the student yearbook the Revonah editor his junior year. He went on to earn a PhD at the University of Colorado, and he taught at Cal State and Fresno State and later served as the Director of Development at St. John's College in Annapolis. He authored Interpreting Hamlet and several articles on the Frank Lloyd Wright Sigma Chi House.

Scope and Content: The Russell Leavenworth Collection documents the efforts of the Sigma Chi at Hanover College to build a fraternity house designed Frank Lloyd Wright. The house was never built. It includes two booklets by Leavenworth describing the history of the project; postcards; a letter from Frank Lloyd Wright; a prospectus for the Frank Lloyd Wright prefabricated house; newspaper clippings; photographs of the architectural drawings for the Sigma Chi house created by Wright; and several publications about Wright’s work and designs.
