Historical Note: Jean and Lucy Clayton were from Carlisle, Sullivan County, Indiana. Both were involved in sports and in the choir during their time at Hanover College. Jean Clayton graduated Hanover College in 1941 with a degree in Latin/classics and physical education. Lucy Clayton graduated Hanover College in 1944 with degree in English and physical education.

Scope and Content: The collection contains personal correspondence to Jean Clayton from Lucy Clayton, L.V. Cady, Mrs. Cady, and Viola Mitchel, dated 1939-1944. The collection also contains personal items related to the college careers of both Jean Clayton and Lucy Clayton. It includes correspondence about their lives as students; graduation program and valedictorian speech; choir song books; Gamma Sigma Pi documentation; and their commencement programs. The collection also contains 1937-1942 editions of The Hanover Sportsgirl and Hanover College Women's Athletic Association handbooks.
