Scope and Content: The Tornado 30th Anniversary Collection contains testimonials, correspondence, pamphlets, and newspaper clippings all pertaining to the 1974 tornado at Hanover College and the reunion hosted by the college 30 years later. The collection outlines the aftermath of the storm and how the community continues to remember the event 30 years later.

Historical Note: On April 3rd, 1974, Hanover College was hit by a massive tornado. It was part of the 1974 Super Tornado Outbreak. The storm destroyed much of the campus, including the Phi Mu sorority house and many other buildings. Students were sent home the following day, and the community began to rebuild the campus. In 2004, 30 years later, Hanover hosted a reunion for those who attended the college at the time of the tornado. They published testimonials and hosted talks about the aftermath of the event.
