Historical Note: Jean W. Shepherd Jones was born on 22 September 1911 in Dupont, IN. She graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts from Hanover College in 1933, the same year in which she was crowned the Hanover College May Day Queen. Jones worked as a librarian at Winchester High School until her retirement in 1971. She died 5 August 2011.

Scope and Content: The Jean Shepherd Jones Papers, dated 1928-2005, contains documentation on alumni of Hanover College including newspaper obituaries of Hanover Alumni as well as president Dr. Albert George Parker’s widow Katherine Parker. Also includes, Hanover Alumni News Magazines Vol. 2, Num. 4, July 1949 and Vol. VI, No. 4, July 1953. Other miscellaneous documents include sorority certificates of Shepherd-Jones, Fall Convocation 1979 booklet, trivia quiz for class of 1933, and personal letter reminiscing on the life of deceased Hanover alumni with photos. Photographs of Hanover College and students and Hanover College appointment date book from 1949 containing personal dairy of woman from 1948.
