Scope and Content: The Harold Voris papers span from seventeenth century-1977. Contains family history and genealogy book, of the Voris family and the Voris’s extended families. Largely explored extended families include Van Voorhee, Voorhee, Van Nuy, Banta, Culberson, and Scott. Locations include Scotland, Holland, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and New York. Also contains genealogy trees, personal childhood stories of Harris Voris, and various miscellaneous documents including letters, newspaper clippings, and list of post office locations.

Historical Note: Harold C. Voris was born 1902 in Pleasant, Indiana and died in 1980 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a distinguished neurosurgeon. He graduated from Hanover College in 1923, the University of Chicago in 1929 with his Ph.D., his M.D. in 1920 from Rush Medial College, and his M.S. In 1934 from the University of Minnesota.
