Scope and Content: The Jim Leonard Papers include extensive drafting and journaling for the formulation of two plays--They Dance Real Slow in Jackson and The Diviners-- and the subsequent revisions he wrote while attending Hanover, before graduating in 1978. The collection also includes letters, sketches, notes, posters, and opening night ephemera.

Historical Note: Jim Leonard Jr. was born in South Bend, Indiana, on 7 March 1956. He attended high school in New Haven, Indiana, and graduated with the class of 1974. He first became involved with drama at Hanover College, where his early efforts were inspired by Faulkner scholar James Ferguson, a professor in Hanover's English department. Jim Leonard is well known as a writer-producer for television.
