Scope and Content: Records of Hanover College President Russell L. Nichols, 1977-2007. Records include memos, press releases, correspondence, newspaper clippings, inauguration materials, emails, speeches, sermons, materials related to his visit to China, Christmas cards, photographs, slides, and VHS tapes. Materials document information about events and programs, policy updates, funding for buildings, and the Hanover Plan.

Historical Note: Russell Rusty L. Nichols was born in Crawfordsville, IN on 19 November 1941. He graduated from Wabash College in 1963, Purdue University in 1967, and with his Ph. D from Purdue University in 1975. In 1975 he began working at Hillsdale College as Director of Admissions (1975-1980), then Vice President of Student Affairs (1980-1984), and then Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs (1984-1987). He served as the President of Hanover College from 1987-2007.
