Public Deposited

A letter written by John Finley Crowe, dated 9 May 1814, for Esther Alexander over his journey so far to Philadelphia. At the time of this letter Crowe stayed in Chillicothe Ohio in order to let himself and his horse recuperate. Crowe compliments the people of Ohio and their societal habits, but states that the ground in Ohio is not worth attempting to farm. Additionally, Crowe remarks favorably on the hospitality that his friend, Mr. Wilson, showed Crowe while he stayed with Mr. Wilson. Moreover, Crowe includes a poem for Esther that he wrote on his travels. Crowe finishes out his letter with some reflections on God and wishes Esther and the friends of the Crowe family well.
