Scope and Content: The Union Literary Society Records contains materials related to the history of the organization and its involvement on Hanover College's campus, dated 1833 to 1917. The collection includes the constitution, by-laws, standing rules, meeting minutes, correspondence, library catalogues, and financial records. Topics include discussion of President Woodrow Wilson, letters to other academic institutions, calligraphy, sketches, and names of members.

Historical Note: The Union Literary Society was a student organization formed on 2 December 1830 and was dedicated to encouraging oratory, debate, and reading among students. It existed at Hanover College from 1836 to 1917. It then merged with the Philalathean Society forming the Philal-Union Society. The organization dissolved in 1932.
