Scope and Content: The Freida Kunkel Barnes Photographs collection contains photographs collected by Freida Kunkel Barnes, a 1915 Hanover College graduate. Topics within the photographs include the town of Hanover, Jefferson County, nature, children, students, family photographs, the Ohio River, Hanover College, and class photographs.

Historical Note: Hanover College was founded in 1827 by John Finley Crowe, a Presbyterian minister, in southern Indiana as a Presbyterian Seminary. The college was the first private college in the state of Indiana. Freida Kunkel Barnes was a 1915 Hanover College graduate. She grew up in Hanover, Jefferson County, Indiana, and taught within the Madison and Hanover school systems for a large portion of her teaching career. She was married to Charles Barnes.
