Scope and Content: The Marian West Photographs collection contains photographs taken by Marian West of Hanover and Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana. Topics within the photographs include historic people and places from Hanover College, including faculty, notable alumni, male and female students, student activities, athletics, fraternities and sororities, academic buildings, scenic campus views, and local waterfalls. Local people, families, and buildings from Jefferson County, Indiana, are also found within the photographs.

Historical Note: Hanover College was founded in 1827 by John Finley Crowe, a Presbyterian minister, in southern Indiana as a Presbyterian Seminary. The college was the first private college in the state of Indiana. Marian West was a barber and photographer from Madison, Indiana.
