Mary Ann Crowe writes the first letter in the document and Charles Kilgore Thompson writes the second. Mary Ann Thompson writes about Esther Crowe's health and mentions that she is disappointed to hear that her mother's health has declined since they last saw her. Crowe talks about the varying reports that she has heard from people coming from Madison that described her mother's health. At the time of the letter, Mary Ann's daughter Mary Esther spent an unspecified amount of time visiting her grandparents. Mary Ann expresses the wish that Mary Esther not be a burden on her grandparents and that if Mary Esther was a burden then they would come get her quickly. The second letter in the document is addressed to Mary Esther and written by her father, Charles Kilgore Thompson. Charles writes that Mary Esther will most likely have to stay in Hanover for a few more weeks until the roads clear up. When the roads cleared up he planned on meeting Mary Esther at Indianapolis. Charles also writes that if Mary Esther needs shoes like she stated in a previous letter that she should get some.
