Scope and Content: The William O. McLelland collection contains photographs in a leather-bound scrapbook. Photographs were collected by William O. McLelland, a 1906 graduate of Hanover College. Topics include students, buildings, student activities and groups, family and friends, and scenic views from Hanover College and Hanover and Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana.

Historical Note: Hanover College was founded in 1827 by John Finley Crowe, a Presbyterian minister, in southern Indiana as a Presbyterian Seminary. The college was the first private college in the state of Indiana. William Oliver McLelland was a graduate of Hanover College in 1906. His sister Harriett Graham McLelland attended and graduated from Hanover College at the same time. Their family resided in Madison, Indiana. William was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
