Scope and Content: Personal and family photographs of Mary Louise Fitton, Hanover College Librarian, dated 1907-1946. Images include Fitton as a little girl, Hanover College, and the Fitton family.

Historical Note: Mary Louise Fitton was born on 16 May 1901 in Mt. Vernon, IN. She graduated from the Columbia University School of Library Science. In 1928, she became Head Librarian at Hanover College, the first professional trained librarian to hold the position. Ms. Fitton was an active member of the campus community, serving as the Alpha Delta Pi house mother for 16 years, teaching journalism courses, and as advisor to the YWCA and Student Christian Associations. She retired from Hanover after 38 years of service in August 1967. Mary Louise Fitton died on 17 January 1967 in Mt. Vernon, IN.
