Historical Note: Edwin Ross was born 2 May 1839 in Vigo county, Indiana to Henry and Emeline Ross. Ross served Co. I, 11th Indiana Regiment of the United States Army during the Civil War. He married Sallie Knapp 2 May 1865 in Terre Haute, IN. Ross died 31 May 1929 in Terre Haute.

Scope and Content: The Edwin Ross Papers contains correspondence and documents related to the life of Edwin Ross1837-1944. The collection primarily consists of letters written by Ross while serving as a solider during the Civil War to his mother, family, and friends.
