Historical Note: The Hanover Presbyterian Church was officially organized on 4 March 1820. Presbyterians in the area had been meeting since December 1819 until the coming of Thomas C. Searly, the first pastor of the church, who served from 1820 until he died in 1822.

The collection contains information regarding session and congregational minutes, church registers, financial records, property records, Women's Missionary Society minutes, membership lists, annual reports, dismissal records, committee reports, disciplinary reports, Hanover College, worship and spiritual issues, missionary work, newspaper clippings, correspondence, anniversaries, legal papers, church bulletins, sermons, and audio-visual materials. Records also contain vital statistics information (baptisms, deaths, and marriages).
