Historical Note: The Greencastle Presbyterian Church was founded in 1825 by Isaac Reed. Around 1870 the Greencastle 1st Presbyterian Church united with the Greencastle 2nd Presbyterian Church and became a united church.

Scope and Content: Records of the Greencastle First Presbyterian Church in Greencastle, Putnam County, IN, dated 1837-1992. The collection contains session and congregational minutes, Sunday School records, financial records, land records, and deeds. The records of several Christian societies' formed by church members include the Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society, the Women's Circle, Society of Willing Workers, the Mite Society, the Christian Endeavor Society, and the Junior Christian Endeavor Society. The final part of the collection is comprised of photos of pastors, the church, and general photos regarding the church. Includes vital statistic information (baptisms, marriages, deaths) from 1837-1886.
