This work is a wash-painting in ink. It depicts a burning village in black and white. There is a large range of value throughout the piece. A road leads from the foreground into the background, and a large tree stands on the right side of the image. Smoke comprises of the majority of the top of the image. Strokes of ink are applied energetically and in a textured manner.
