- Abstract
Concussions are of growing concern in today’s sports industry. The purpose of the current study was to determine if balance deficits arise post-concussion and return to baseline levels when released for play. The vestibular system dictates balance, and when deficits arise, it is shown with a decrease in balance (1). This study was designed to utilize the Balance Error Scoring System (BESS) as a preseason baseline to assist in the assessment of concussions and determine if an athlete has fully recovered when they return to competition.
