Abstract
  • This study attempts to find determinants and recognize what effects they have on the violent crime rate, within the United States. This model focuses on the following determinants: the poverty rate, law enforcement, whether or not states allow or prohibit open carrying of handguns, educational attainment, and the unemployment rate. This study will prove that all the following determinants are statistically significant when determining the violent crime rate. However, multicollinearity is a factor that must be dealt with in this regression model.
