Abstract
  • When a limb becomes immobilized as a result of injury or illness, the muscles associated with that limb atrophy, or shrink and become weak. Previous studies have shown that one way to slow this is through a process known as cross education. However, information is limited and unclear as to how cross education varies between different sizes of muscles. This study was designed to investigate if large or small muscle groups experienced greater benefits from cross education. Specifically, the goal of this study was to determine if muscle size affects the degree of cross education.
