Abstract
  • In the summer of 2018 I was presented the opportunity to work at CTL Engineering in Forest Park, OH. My position within the company was as a laboratory technician and I worked under the laboratory manager; Marie Musial. In this internship I was tasked with testing soil that had been extracted from worksites in various strategic points and depths within the area. My job consisted of preparing those samples and testing the composition, compaction specifications and water retainability of the soil. The methods of testing used where as follows; Gradation testing, Proctor compaction testing, Hydrometer analysis of soil and Atterberg limits testing. The data received from these tests was then used to choreograph the best methods for the field technicians to use during construction efforts. Through this internship I gained experience working within an established company performing instrumental tasks within that system, along with learning how to perform specific tasks that I can take with me and use at other employment opportunities in the future.
