In this letter to Esther Crowe from John Finley Crow, John is at a cross roads with his own emotions. He is feeling anxious and impatient while waiting for another letter, yet he does not want to receive a letter with unfortunate news inside. He encourages Esther to pray daily about being good parents to their child. Further along he asks her to write him a personal letter describing the baby. To close he promises that he will be home by the second day in May.
