Scope and Content: The Arthur J. Whallon Photographs collection contains a scrapbook with photographs. The photographs were collected by Arthur J. Whallon, a 1907 graduate of Hanover College. Topics within the photographs include students, buildings, student activities and groups, fraternity friends and activities, and nature scenes from Hanover College. Other topics include photographs of family and friends, group shots, and locations in Hanover and Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana.

Historical Note: Hanover College was founded in 1827 by John Finley Crowe, a Presbyterian minister, in southern Indiana as a Presbyterian Seminary. The college was the first private college in the state of Indiana. Arthur James Whallon was a graduate of Hanover College in 1907. He was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He served as a captain in the Marine Corp during WWI in both France and Belgium.
