Peace

Public Deposited

Painting of a sunset on the beach. This individual work of art was purchased as a part of the Mary Louise Greiner Student Art Award in April, 2024. Painting number 4 from a series of 4.

Artist statement: Emotions are like waves. They ebb and flow from one state to another, vary in intensity, can be unpredictable, and so much more. What I’m simply trying to say is emotions come in various waves. For my thesis, I painted a series of large acrylic paintings of the sea in different weather conditions. Each painting conveys a different emotional state: happiness, sadness, anger, and peace. As you can see, these pieces are presented in a straight line. This is to show each emotion I felt during the different stages of my grief process. Creating these paintings have helped me get through the difficult loss of my brother and was very therapeutic for me. I hope these paintings allow viewers to examine their emotions and explore connections between natural elements and inner psychological states.
